Hi everyone J As promised, here are a few more Alaskan adventures and some updates from us. By the way, this is Eric. Yeah, weird right? I don’t usually get into the whole blog thing, but Holly told me that Tanner McD does it. If Tanner can do it, I think I can get away with it too.

Holly is 27 weeks along and is FINALLY starting to show. She’d never say it, but I think she thinks it’s fun to finally look pregnant. We are both really excited – May 17^th!

It’s hard to believe that we’ve only lived here a month and a half. We feel like we’ve been able to see and do a lot already…

Met some important people…

Took in the exotic wildlife (yes, that is a painted wall. Cool, eh?)...

Sat on an ice throne...

Took a ride on the real 'polar' express...

Swam some laps at the local pool…

And seen more snow than we have ever seen in our entire lives!

...and shoveled our fair share of it :)

Since we first arrived here in Anchorage, we have kept an “Alaskan Bucket List” (things we want to definitely do while we are up here) and that list just keeps growing. Here is where we’re at thus far.

So far we’ve only checked one off the list. This past week we went on a moose hunt here in Anchorage (just with the camera) and we got lucky! Take a look.

These first two we saw near a place called Kincaid Park which is only 10-15 minutes away from our house. We thought we got pretty lucky – moose hunt successful. We got home and were eating lunch in the kitchen of our townhome when believe it or not, a moose showed up RIGHT in our backyard. Here is the proof.

Pretty cool. This past week we took a picture of this next one….the door on the left is our neighbor’s front door.

Anyways…in other news, Holly took her Nursing Boards this past weekend! She has been studying quite a bit. She’s hoping like crazy that she passed – I am sure she did. That could be her last test EVER! From what we hear, Nurses are pretty high in demand up here so it might actually work out for Holly to get some experience in the field for a couple of months before the baby comes. We’ll see.

I however, am not so lucky. While she was taking her test, I swung by the office and picked up my study materials for the CPA Exam.

While we’re on the accounting subject, here is where I work. Pretty nice eh? You have got to love the grey cubicle. At least it’s got a name tag, right?

All in all, life is pretty good right now. People are outgoing and pretty laid back. We thought we would miss those Idaho sunsets, but this one is p-retty darn good. I did see a bag of potatoes at Walmart the other day that brought back a little nostalgia, but we're enjoying living up here.

We are at 22 weeks. Here is a post to update everyone on our pregnancy. Of course i had to include the pictures. Here is what i have captured of the pregnancy so far:

As you can tell i am definitely in the "are you pregnant or just getting chubby" stage. But it is so fun to see her grow! Is it hard to see the numbers on the scale go up-yes, but is it so worth it when i remember why they are going up-DEFINITELY! We love her so much already. She moves around quite a bit lately and its so much fun to feel her. Eric has been lucky enough to feel her a few times too.

I have been very lucky with this pregnancy so far. At week 6 i felt nauseated at times-mainly due to smells. Smells are a lot stronger now and it made me nauseated for that week and a half and then i went back to feeling good again. I learned that if i didn't eat anything i would feel sick. Luckily there is a quick fix to that problem-eat! The unfortunate part was that nothing ever sounded good. I think that drove Eric nuts because we both knew i was hungry but every time he suggested something i would turn it down. He learned to just put something in front of me and i would eat it. :) I was so lucky to not be really sick during that time because i was finishing up the nursing program. I can't imagine trying to study and go to clinical shifts feeling sick all the time. That just would have been the worst. I was definitely blessed! Also during the beginning weeks i was amazed at how exhausted i would feel. I would come home from school and just have to take a nap before making dinner. Or i would be at school studying for a test and i would have to take a nap because i just couldn't keep my eyes open. That slowly went away, but there are still moments when i get exhausted. I just have to remember that my body is working hard to help this little girl grow and sometimes, it needs a rest. I'm still feeling really good and doing really well.

As to cravings and things like that i haven't had any...yet. Well, nothing that i don't usually crave-you know, ice cream, peanut m&ms, warm chocolate chip cookies etc... Nope, Eric hasn't had to go on any late night runs to grab me something i have been craving-not yet at least. There was a time when fast food sounded awful all the time. I wanted nothing to do with the greasy hamburgers or fries. Mandarin oranges have been one of my favorites and lately just regular oranges are so heavenly to me. But i have no crazy weird craving stories for you.

We found out that we were having a girl on Dec 16. That was such a fun appointment. I had been looking forward to it for so long. Eric guessed that it was a girl all along, but i just couldn't decide. Part of me would decide that it was a girl and then i would have these dreams that we would go to the doctor and he would tell us it was a boy and i was devastated because i had bought everything for a girl. After a few of those dreams i just decided that i would stop thinking about it so much and just look forward to finding out what it was. We were both SO happy when they told us "It's a girl."

As far as names go, we don't have one picked out for sure. We have a few names that we really like, some more than others, but we will just have to wait and see. I'll keep you updated on that.

So far, pregnancy has been great. I get so excited thinking about names, colors, making bows etc etc and then get nervous when i realize that this is for real. It is such an exciting time in life!

where to start...

I don't even know where to begin. It has been a long time and so much has happened that i am at a loss of where to start. I guess i can begin with the end of schooling: GRADUATION!! We both graduated together on December 16. We were so lucky that the timing of our schooling worked out that way. Our families came up and helped us pack up our things that day and then came to support us on our graduation night. Eric had no desire to walk, but since we were both graduating i figured it would be cool to walk together. So, i signed him up to walk with the nursing students :) Instead of being with the accounting/business students Eric agreed to walk with me. That was fun. It was a great night and we were given great messages-Elder Cook came and spoke-it was a great talk!

The next day, bright and early, we finished the last minute cleaning, said our goodbyes to our families, and said goodbye to Rexburg. There were two other couples that we became pretty good friends that are now in Alaska too. The husbands all got jobs at the same firm! We were able to fit our stuff in the same Uhaul and split the moving costs a little bit. We left for Seattle on December 17. We loaded our car onto a barge that would haul it overseas to Anchorage and then we put all of everyone's stuff on a barge container to haul it up to Anchorage too. After everything was loaded we realized that everything we owned was out in the ocean on its way to Alaska. So crazy! We said our thanks and goodbye to Erics dad and hopped on a train to Portland, Oregon where we stayed with my grandparents for about a week before we caught our flight to Anchorage. We were able to go stay at their beach house for a few days and it was so nice. We were SO lucky with weather-no wind, no rain, clear skies, all you needed was a light jacket! It was such a nice break from the hectic world we were finishing up. Christmas was so good. It was nice to be around family.

On Dec 27 we loaded our stuff on the plane and left the "lower 48" on our way to our new home: ALASKA! I still cannot believe it! We arrived safe and sound and one of the couples (the Murdocks) that moved up here too made it before we did so they picked us up and took us to our new home. Our landlord had a blow up mattress, shower curtain, and some paper products waiting for us when we got here so we wouldn't have to worry about those kinds of things. We got a phone call earlier that day saying our car made it and we could pick it up the next day. Our "stuff" wouldn't arrive for another week. We made do with pb&j's and a few other simple things like that until our stuff arrived. A little over a week later our stuff arrived. That was quite the day. All 3 guys went and unloaded the barge, separated everything into piles for each family, and then loaded it into a uhaul truck where we took everything to each others houses and unloaded things. It was a day long process and Eric was exhausted. But, it was so very nice to know that everything made it up here. It was a little intimidating looking at the high stacks of boxes knowing we had to put it all somewhere, but i was just so happy it was here that the next morning we got right to work and put it away. It took us a couple of days to get it all put away and decorations up, but it looks nice and we are so grateful its all here! We went out for a drive looking for moose one day, were unsuccessful but took some pictures of how beautiful it is here. We are amazed at the snow-there is so much of it. We are told that this year has been an unusual winter and that there usually isnt quite this much snow. They do a really good job of keeping the roads as clear as possible, but lately it has been hard for them to keep up because it just keeps coming down. :) We went into town with the Murdocks and looked at the ice sculptures-they were pretty amazing. It is cold here, but nothing we are not used to from living in Rexburg (ICEBURG) for a few years. The people in our ward also told us that the weather is usually not this cold either-which was very nice to hear. I just make sure to put on my long johns and i am just fine :) We are really liking Alaska. The people here have been so nice. There are some things that we have found are more expensive here, such as gas, eggs, potatoes (sad sad sad) and housing. But altogether its not that big of a difference at all. The one thing that is taking me a while to get used to is waking up at 7 or 8 in the morning and it's pitch black outside. My body could get up and go for the day, but the darkness plays tricks on my mind and makes it feel like it's 4 in the morning. The sun usually is up by about 10:30 everyday and sunset is usually around 3-or 3:30 everyday. It is pretty different, but i am praying i'll get used to it soon. We are doing really well and are all settled in. Eric will start his job as an accountant (auditor) in one week from today! I am getting everything sent in and am studying for my boards exam. Everything has been going well and we are enjoying it here.

The Month of June

June was such a fun/busy month. We are still in school, but we managed to sneak away a few times for some fun things such as.....

THE 4TH OF JULY:

Luckily we were already in Utah for my friend Macey Jones' wedding and so we stayed with Eric's family and enjoyed the Holiday weekend with them. We went to the stadium of fire (it was my first time going and it was SO awesome...i highly recommend it) and it was so much fun. David Archuleta and Brad Paisley were the performers-both were GREAT!! I loved the sunshine, being away from school, being with a great family, and fireworks! I was so excited that we were able to be there for one of my GREAT friends' wedding. The sealing was beautiful, and so was the bride. I am super happy and excited for you Macey Jones Peterson!

Eric's 24th Birthday

Eric's birthday was June 26. Sadly, it probably wasn't the best birthday he has ever had. It fell on a sunday this year

-and so did one of my nursing clinicals. Unfortunately i wasn't able to be there during the day (my shift was 7-7)

but i did make it home in time to have steak and potatoes and cake that night. Hopeful next year is better!

24 candles=1 box of birthday candles...next year i will have to buy 2 boxes! you're getting old :)

Adam's Homecoming

Eric's brother, Adam, has been serving a mission in Fiji and got back in June. It was a lot of fun for the whole family to be together again. Adam-thanks for the fun gifts you brought back-Eric LOVES his Machete and his Sulu.

Adam brought the boys back "sulu's" Eric loved it and wore it the whole trip back to rexburg.

It has been such a fun month. We loved being able to see and spend time with friends and family. Now we are gearing ourselves up for our finals week. July 20th marks the last day of our semester and then starts our 7 week summer break! Wish us luck!!!

We just finished with our midterms for the semester which means we only have 1/2 left! We are both doing well in our classes and enjoying what we are learning. Saturday was such a beautiful day in Rexburg-we spent part of the afternoon at the park, but had previously made a promise to each other to get our homework/studying done...which means we left the beautiful sunshine to find our favorite (sarcasm?) cubicles to start the studying. We sure can't wait for our 7 week summer break to begin!

This morning Eric and I both registered for our LAST semester of school!!! It's always stressful picking the right teachers, finding times that work together so you dont have a really random schedule, but we succeeded and are now officially registered for our LAST semester! What a great feeling!!!

Eric went with the school on a trip to Portland to talk with different accounting firms and businesses for the rest of the week. I am so excited for him, jealous of him, but mostly i just MISS him! We're crossing our fingers that he can have some luck in talking with the different firms and who knows...maybe find an internship. So good luck Eric and have fun...but hurry home!

that's right...it has been 2 semesters since the last time i was on here and guess what?? only 2 more! It is amazing how fast time goes by! I am half-way through with the nursing program and i can't believe it!!! Eric and i will both be graduating in december (perfecting timing huh?)

We both just finished up with the hardest-toughest semester we have ever had. It feels good to have accomplished something challenging-it also feels good to have it behind us :)

Right now we are on our one week break before we start another semester on the 19th of april. I am excited for this coming semester because of the nursing classes and clinicals i will be involved in-pediatrics and labor and delivery. Speaking of which i have great news...i applied to do a preceptorship at the hospital in Idaho Falls for labor and delivery and i GOT IT! I am super excited about it. Basically it's like an internship. I will get to work one on one with a nurse for half the semester learning and learning all i possibly can. I am super excited and grateful for the opportunity!

We are loving our time at BYU-Idaho. It is such a wonderful place...though we do wish it would stop snowing :)

so-it has definitely been a while. Eric and i have both finished 3 semesters at BYU-I and are now enjoying the last few weeks of our summer before we jump into another semester.

Some updates-eric is still in the bishopric in our ward-he loves it and does so well at it. I got a new calling a few weeks ago. I am the primary president in our ward of 2 kids :) (but i just received word that 4 more kids will be joining us...hooray) it is super fun and i enjoy every second of it.

I didn't get into the nursing program :( that was a hard day, But i've learned to have faith in God's timing and in his plan.

Our one year anniversary past about 3 months ago...it's crazy how fast time goes by. We are so in love and are just loving living life together.

I got a new job at Deseret Book- i was so glad to say goodbye to Melalueca :) Deseret Book has been soo super good to me. The people i work with are fabulous and my job is just perfect. ( My 2nd week working there i got to meet david archuleta-he came for his book signing and i got to meet him while i was working- that was pretty fun)

We went on a fun vacation to Portland, Oregon and then on to the Oregon Coast where we stayed at my grandparents beach house. We loved Oregon-it was beautiful and so much fun. We loved the beach and the nice break from Rexburg :)

I have to leave my job now :( i was only there for about 3 1/2 months and i have loved every second, but i am leaving with good reason. ready for some BIG exciting news.... remember how i said i didn't get into the nursing program? Well, i didn't. But a couple of weeks ago we received some EXCITING news-someone dropped their spot in the program and i was next in line-which means.....I GOT IN!! Oh that was such an exciting day. I was working and Eric came into the store with the letter and said read this- I was so happy, surprised, and excited that i cried. I am so thankful and feel so blessed. I am getting so nervous and anxious!! There was a lot of paperwork and things that need to be done before school starts so i got right on it-i am now CPR certified, did my criminal background check (which is clean if you were worried), did my physical at the doctor (in which i found out that my left eye sees pretty much nothing-good thing i have a strong right eye...this might mean glasses???) did my immunizations, my arm is still super sore from that, and now i am just getting started on the 3 tests i have to take before school starts-yep, 3 tests...i feel a little intimidated, but i'll make it.

Life is great! We are loving being in Rexburg, living in a wonderful apartment, being close to the temple, being students, but we are mostly loving our summer with one another.

the best=valentines day

valentines day was a while ago, i'm a little behind on this blog, but

it was the best! I have the best husband EVER. He told me he was

planning a little surprise for valentines day so that i wouldn't make

any big purchases or plans. I was so excited! Well, he surprised me

with a little scavenger hunt around our house and it lead to our ihome

where my FAVORITE colbie caillat song was playing (probably the one

playing on your computer right now) and in front of it was a beautiful

rose and 2 tickets to the colbie caillat concert!!! Oh man oh man i was

SOO excited and SO happy. Eric is seriously the best-not because he got

me tickets to my favorite singer, but because of how much love he has

for me. He is too good!

and as for valentines DAY-we got a call that morning to meet with our stake president.

Eric got a new calling-so long ward indexing leaders hello 2nd counselor in the

bishopric! Wow we were surprised :) but it seems to be going great. We

have a wonderful bishop and a great ward and a BEAUTIFUL new church building

(no more meeting on campus!!!!)

Other than these updates life has just stayed very busy. Eric now has a job on campus

at the career/internship office. He works doing the resume critiques and mock interviews!

We are just truckin along and doing GREAT!

it's been a while

Wow it's been a while! Things have been pretty busy in our lives. We finished our first semester at BYU-I in December and we loved it! We are really liking it here. We are in a fabulous ward, have great friends, and live right next to the temple! The semester ended well-we both got a's in our classes, Eric got a scholarship because he is a genius (thanks BYU-I for the $1,000 smackers in our bank account :) After we finished our finals we drove down to American Fork to spend a few days with the Olson crew. We had so much fun with them! We love it when we get to visit. We had a certificate to the anniversary inn for a free night stay in ANY room so on the way to idaho we stopped in salt lake and used our pass. We stayed in a $350 dollar room and it was completely FREE!!! It was a gorgeous room with a view of salt lake and it came with free snacks :) it was really fun. We spent the rest of christmas break with my family. We went skiing a few times and just relaxed and prepared ourselves for the upcoming semester. Our car was loaded down when we were driving back to Rexburg. (Thanks moms and dads for a GREAT christmas) We started school on January 5 and have been studying away since. We did get to go to our friends, Skye and Flechers, sealing and reception last weekend-which was beautiful. School has been going really well-we are both busy and working hard but we are loving our classes. Some great news, i just got a part time job. We have been looking since the beginning of last semester and it has been a difficult run. We are both grateful that we will be having an income again. Other than these catch up things we haven't done much. We can't believe 8 months of marriage is behind us! We both agree that they have been the best 8 months of our lives and we are looking forward to eternity.

my poor eric...

eric hasn't been feeling very well for the past couple weeks. we moved in to our apartment in rexburg and it started getting worse. we went to the doctor and they told us it was a virus and that there really wasn't anything to do for it. well today he was in lots of pain so we went back to the doctor (for the 4th time) and we found out he has mono. :( i feel so bad! i am hoping and praying he gets better soon!

Fun Trip To Banff

We have been in Canada for a while now and we haven't got to go do or see very much. This last sunday we planned a trip to Banff National Park (it's pretty much the yellowstone of Canada). We rode with another technician, our boss, and a girl from the singles branch. It was a long drive, but it was a lot of fun. We left early enough to go to the branch in banff and still have time to drive around and see the different things there. It was a fun trip

This is my dog Lilly. She is the smallest, cutest little dog in the world. You just can't help but love her. I said goodbye to my family (and Lilly) and left for Canada to find another dog friend only....

he is HUGE. I went from the smallest dog ever, to the biggest.

This is Magnum. He is my boss' dog. This guy is with me 40+ hours a week, 6 days a week. He is great company, but sometimes VERY stinky. My first encounter with Magnum was not a good one. I am slightly afraid of big dogs and so when i saw him i was hiding behind Eric the whole time. My first day of work he came into the office room and sat under the table by my feet the entire time. He didn't leave my side. That was the start of our friendship. Now he always comes and sits under the table once i walk into the office. It's just tradition. He is probably one of the nicest dogs you will ever meet. He looks big, mean, and tough, but he is the biggest teddy bear there is. He is such a pansy-he is afraid of bikes, cats, long boards, and guitars. Eric was playing his guitar over here once and Magnum started freaking out and was barking out of control. It was funny. All in all i enjoy his company, but now i am just missing my dog, lilly.

How We Spent Our 4th Of July

the 4th of July has always been a holiday that i enjoy. It's so good to spend time with the family, eat good food, and watch fireworks at night. A day of play and relaxation=the BEST. This 4th of July was a little bit different for Eric and I. Since we are in Canada they don't celebrate the 4th which meant no fireworks, but instead we saw a tornado!

Tornados have always been one of my most dreaded fears. I am so afraid of storms;thunder, lightning, the whole sha-bang just doesn't thrill me as it does some people. I was freaked out of my mind when one of the technicians called me and told me there was a tornado outside. It was such a good thing that Eric was at the office with me at that time or else i would have been FREAKING OUT even more than i was. It helped brighten Eric's day a little bit, so that is good i guess. It definitely didn't do the same for me. I am praying that this is the ONE AND ONLY tornado that i will ever see in my life!

Eric is a pro at this game. We had lots of fun going out one afternoon playing in the sun-i am so sun-deprived this summer its ridiculous :) But we had lots of fun, i showed Eric how it's done (that is why in the picture he is rubbing his eeyes-he was so worn out after i worked him in tennis) :)

Since there really isn't much to do in Red Deer, we went for a little walk on a path that we found at a park we were chilling at one day. It was actually a really nice place-full of trees and plants and a little stream (it was actually kind of a stinky stream). It was good to

get out of our apartment and go see what's around us-which isn't much. :)

i love him so much and there is no question why

he makes me laugh and he makes me smile

he makes me feel loved all the while

his sense of humor is definitely the best

and after hours of working he still doesn't rest

he comes home all full of love and joy

sometimes i forget he is even a boy

we could talk and talk all night long

but we wouldn't get much sleep and that would be wrong :)

he comforts and cuddles me all through the night

i love when he wakes me up squeezing me tight

today is his special day and i want him to know

that my love for him wont fade or falter, but will continually grow

The BEACH is one of my most

FAVORITE

places to be at. I love the smells and sounds

and i LOVE the sand!

This trip to the beach was a little different. Eric took me to a lake that kind of had a beach-it was a gorgeous place! We don't really have time during the weeks to go out and see what's around us, so eric, after working a week in this place, decided we needed to take a sunday drive so that he could show me this place. It was kind of stormy, windy, and cold, but i had a great time! It made me miss the summers i would spent at the beach with my family, but it was great to be there with eric!

9 Months of Distance

So i was looking through all of my pictures that i have of Eric and I while were dating and it just made me realize how much i LOVE him. Since our first date i knew that he was something special-something i wanted to pursue :) . I loved that i could be my "real" self around him. He was someone i could tease and joke with and just have LOTS of fun. I think that is why everything happened so quickly. From the first kiss to the first " I love you's " my feelings for him were so very STRONG. We did the distance relationship for 9 months (august 08-april 09) - and let me tell ya, there were some definite hard times, but looking back now i have NO regrets and i can say LOUD AND PROUD that it was well worth every minute of the MANY drives we did from either logan to provo, or provo to logan. I love him so much and i am so glad that we worked through time and distance to be able to be together FOREVER.

A quick update on our life

We did it! We are now married! After 5 months of being engaged, May 15 finally came and we are now married! I have never been happier! Life is just good! So we were married on a friday, had a reception on saturday in Idaho, opened gifts on sunday, and monday we flew to San Diego where we spent the next 4 days relaxing in the sun. Thursday night we flew back to Eric's parents house and stayed the night there. The next day we packed up our stuff, said our goodbye's, and hit the road. We stopped in Rupert to load my stuff and drove for hours and hours. We stayed the night in Montana, and continued our drive until we reached Red Deer, Alberta Canada at 7 pm saturday night. We were both exhausted, tired, and a little grumpy, so when our boss showed us our apartment we were both very disappointed. After we got our keys and were left alone, i bawled my eyes out. I knew that this was going to be a hard summer. Our apartment was NASTY-peanuts and band aid wrappers on the floor, garbage needing to be taken out, and a very UNCLEAN bathroom. To make things even better our oven and stove don't work, we have no kitchen table, and as for a bed, well we pushed two twins together and tried to make our queen bedding fit (Eric is sick of sleeping on the crack). Days went by and i became more optimistic and decided to make the best out of this and since then everything has been good. Eric leaves for work at 2 and i leave at 4. We both get home at about the same time, usually 12ish or so. We have LOVED being married! We are both just so happy! We love all the time that we have had together so far and look forward to all the times coming.
